Description: The Doctors debuted on April 1, 1963, using an anthology format with different characters in each story; this was in contrast to all of the other daytime dramas on air at the time. For most of the series, storylines revolved around Hope Memorial Hospital and its patriarch Chief of staff Dr. Matt Powers, who started on the program on July 9, 1963, although Pritchett originally appeared on the series during its weekly anthology period, in another role.
