Description: Lucas Tanner changes careers after a grievous personal tragedy, taking up teaching in suburban St. Louis. He approaches it in an idealistic fashion, rebelling against the rules that keep him from connecting to the students. A former baseball player and sportswriter who becomes an English teacher at the fictional Harry S Truman Memorial High School in Webster Groves, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.
